INDIAN SPRINGS RANCH

Indian Springs Ranch sits on land originally homesteaded by the Boyle family, who arrived in Jackson Hole in 1915 and established the historic Bar Y Ranch. Phyllis Boyle Brown — the first president of the Jackson Hole CowBelles — gave her family name to Boyles Hill, the elevated ridge at the heart of the community. Her son Jim and his wife Diana ranched the property for nearly four decades, raising Hereford cattle and holding a Gros Ventre forest allotment, before selling their portion in 1988.

In 1991, the adjacent state-owned parcel — a wooded, spring-fed hill that the Browns had long leased — sold at public auction to nationally recognized developer Gerald T. Halpin, whose family also owns the Lost Creek guest ranch. Halpin assembled the full 1,200 acres, combining the purchased acreage with the former Brown Ranch, and began developing the community in 1992. The 1,200-acre parcel was thoughtfully subdivided into 41 lots, with the balance permanently preserved as open space.

Today, Indian Springs Ranch is a private gated community offering 47 homeowner lots and approximately 500 acres under conservation easement. Boyles Hill’s elevation yields some of the most commanding Teton views in the valley, and the community’s private road network provides residents a rare bypass route to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort — North America’s top-ranked ski destination — just 15 minutes away. The combination of sweeping views, privacy, and proximity to both town and the mountain earned Indian Springs Ranch recognition by Forbes as one of the top ten private communities in the United States.
